Sinais de Pontuação

Os sinais de pontuação representam os recursos atribuídos à escrita. Dentre suas muitas finalidades, está a de reproduzir pausas e entonações da fala.

Como chamamos esses sinais em Inglês?

a. ( . ) Period / Full Stop – She had a babe last night.

b. ( : ) Colon – I have two sisters: Lucy and Jane.

c. ( ; ) Semicolon – “Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things.” (Peter Drucker)

d. ( , ) Comma – I thank my mother, my father and my sister.

e. ( ? ) Question Mark – Do you study English?

f. ( ! ) Exclamation Mark – I can’t believe she is married!

g. (” “) Quotation Marks – She shared her “truth” with me.
